Sorry for missing the reply. This is aresort that is about 90 minutes east of puerto plata airport in the Domminican republic.
As for takeovers, several of the lifestyle travel sellers will have takeover events. The resort is part of the Caliente chain out of Florida so either check their website or the resellers.

We have been there and loved it! Wish we had heard about the take over before we planned a few other trips. They had it on SLS and we didnt notice in time. Post some good stories when you get back.

Being a newbie should no bearing whether you have fun. Nobody will molest or bite Unless you want. Also would give you the chance to meet some folks that can answer questions or concerns.
